Short Intro of Dhamek Stupa
Dharmarajika Stupa is the real name of Dhamek Stupa. Dharmarajika is a Sanskrit version. The stupa is a sign of Dharma. It’s built-in Sarnath, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It’s near about 13km far from Varanasi Cantt.
History of Dhamek Stupa
Stupas made as pre-Buddhist tumuli. In this stupas, ascetics have been buried in a seated position. That’s called chaitya. After the Salvation of Buddha, Buddha’s remains were cremated and his ashes were divided into eight parts after the funeral. The ashes are buried under the eight mounds. These mounds contain Kalash and embers. When Some people know about these early stupas. Ever since the original ten monuments became impossible to identify. Only a few people are aware of these early stupas.
